Gyeongsangbuk-do is operating a robot training center in cooperation with HD Hyundai Robotics to nurture talent for the mobility industry.
The program is part of the province’s RISE (Regional Innovation System & Education) initiative. The Mobility Innovation University program brings together Daegu Catholic University, Yeungnam University, and Daegu University to train professionals in the mobility sector. The program aims to cultivate 1,980 specialists over the next five years.
The robot training center is located at the business incubation center of Daegu Catholic University in Gyeongsan. It was established in December 2024 through cooperation between the university and HD Hyundai Robotics.
HD Hyundai Robotics has donated industrial robots and control systems and dispatched professional instructors to support hands-on training in robot operation and smart manufacturing technologies.
The center also runs training programs for industry professionals. So far, 198 employees from regional companies have completed the program, gaining practical experience in operating industrial robots and smart manufacturing systems.
During the winter break of 2025, the center held four practical training sessions for students participating in the Mobility Innovation University program. A total of 64 students completed the training, where they operated industrial robots and designed automated processes in virtual simulation environments.
The robot training center serves as a hub for industry–academia collaboration, combining the educational strengths of universities with the technical expertise of a global robotics company. Through the RISE program, Gyeongsangbuk-do plans to expand cooperation among local governments, universities, and companies to support regional talent development and employment opportunities.
