Bucheon City will plant 250,000 spring flowers beginning March 4 along major roads and in residential areas across Wonmi-gu, Sosa-gu, and Ojeong-gu. The project aims to enhance the urban landscape and provide a more pleasant living environment for residents.
Since November last year, the city has cultivated four types of flowers, including pansies and violas, at the Yeowol Flower Nursery in Yeowol-dong to secure enough plants for spring planting. Through seasonal production planning, Bucheon has established a stable supply system for this year’s program.
Planting areas have been expanded to include major arterial roads such as Gilju-ro, Gyeongin-ro, and Jungdong-daero, as well as neighborhood streets. As in previous years, the city’s three district offices and 37 neighborhood administrative offices will work together to carry out phased planting tailored to the characteristics of each area.
Large-scale flower beds will be created along main roads, while smaller planters and flower beds will be placed near residential neighborhoods and in alleyways to ensure a balanced landscape throughout the city. The initiative is expected to improve residents’ overall experience of their surroundings.
In May, flower-hanging installations will be set up at around 10 key roadside locations, including Jungdong Overpass and Chunui Station. The city plans to install three-dimensional floral decorations that take road structures and pedestrian flow into account, creating concentrated spring landscape zones and enhancing the city’s image along major traffic routes.
Meanwhile, Bucheon City plans to establish a stable system for producing a total of 650,000 flower seedlings this year.
