“My Secret Friend Hechi” Surpasses 10 Million Views on YouTube

An animated series featuring Hechi, the symbolic character of Seoul, has surpassed 10 million cumulative views on YouTube. The animation My Secret Friend Hechi recently concluded Part 1 (episodes 1–13), reaching the milestone about three months after its release.

The series first aired on EBS in December last year and has since attracted a wider audience across both television and online platforms. Replays on the official YouTube channel, along with related content featuring the character Hechi, have steadily gained views, bringing the cumulative total past 10 million.

Several well-known locations in Seoul also appear in the animation, including Bukhansan Mountain, Gwanghwamun, and the Hangang River. By featuring these landmarks naturally in the story, the series also highlights well-known sites across the city.

My Secret Friend Hechi is a 26-episode fantasy comedy animation set in Seoul. The story follows Hechi, a mythical guardian creature that protects the gate between the celestial and human worlds, who comes to Seoul and meets an elementary school student named Yunho. Their adventures unfold across the city, delivering a warm message designed for family audiences.

Even after the end of Part 1, the episodes remain available on the official My Secret Friend Hechi YouTube channel as well as the Seoul City YouTube channel. Part 2 (episodes 14–26) is scheduled to be released in June and will introduce an expanded storyline along with new characters.

In addition, a family musical based on the animation, also titled My Secret Friend Hechi, will be staged from April to June. The production is intended for family audiences, particularly children aged six to ten, and tells a story of adventure and friendship alongside the character Hechi.
