Jeungpyeong-gun in Chungcheongbuk-do will begin operating its guided walking tour program in March, offering visitors an opportunity to explore the region’s history, culture, and natural scenery with commentary from certified cultural tourism interpreters.

The program features nine routes linked to the Jeungpyeong Nine Scenic Views, one of the area’s signature landscape attractions. The routes are divided into four in the southern area, two in the central area, and three in the northern area, each reflecting the unique character of its region.

Each course takes about two hours to complete, making it accessible even for beginner walkers.

The most popular route has been Southern Course No. 1, which connects Jwagusan Meditation Suspension Bridge and Jwagusan Observatory, both listed among the Jeungpyeong Nine Scenic Views. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views along the ridgeline of Mount Jwagusan and walk beneath wide open skies. In spring, double cherry blossoms bloom along the path leading to the bridge, adding seasonal charm to the experience.

For history enthusiasts, Northern Course No. 8 begins at the Yeon Byeong-ho Memorial Hall and continues to the birthplace of independence activist Yeon Byeong-ho. Guided commentary provides insight into his life and Korea’s independence movement, allowing participants to gain a deeper understanding of the region’s modern history.

Applications must be submitted at least five days before the desired date through the integrated reservation system for cultural tourism interpreters. Participation is limited to 10 people per session on a first-come, first-served basis. The program is free of charge.
