From February 1 to 4, Ulleung-gun operated the “2026 Youth Ski Camp” at High1 Ski Resort in Jeongseon, Gangwon-do, for 27 fifth-grade elementary school students from the county, officials announced.

During the camp, participating students received level-appropriate ski lessons from professional instructors and learned fundamental skiing skills. They also gained practical knowledge of safe winter sports activities while building teamwork and a sense of community through group experiences.

The ski camp was carried out as part of the Ulleung Education Development Special Zone pilot project. It was designed to provide students with a “one person, one arts and sports” program and to support their physical and emotional development by expanding opportunities to participate in winter sports.

One participating student said, “Even though it snows a lot in Ulleung in winter, I had never had the opportunity to ski before. At first, I felt a little nervous, but learning together with my friends was really enjoyable, and this experience will be an unforgettable memory.”

An Ulleung-gun official said, “Through the Education Development Special Zone project, we aim to provide distinctive educational programs tailored to Ulleung and to deliver customized learning and experiential opportunities for our students. We will continue to develop diverse and substantive education programs to support students’ growth and broaden their learning opportunities.”
