Yeoncheon announced that the “Yeoncheon-eup Chatancheon Sledding Area” will operate from January 16 through February 8. The facility was created to provide family-friendly winter recreation and to add seasonal vibrancy to the local community.
The sledding area is located on a frozen section of Chatancheon Stream in Hyeonga-ri, Yeoncheon-eup, and operates daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Facilities include ice sledding, snow sledding, and a skating rink. This year, additional snow sledding areas have been added to enhance the experience for children and families.
A food area is available on site, offering warm winter favorites such as tteokguk, tteokbokki, Kimchijeon, and fish cakes. These options allow visitors to stay comfortably at the site even during colder weather.
The Chatancheon sledding area is hosted by Yeoncheon-eup and jointly organized by the Yeoncheon-eup Village Heads Association and the Yeoncheon-eup Saemaeul Women’s Association. The project reflects strong community cooperation and is expected to encourage greater local engagement.
