Buyeo-gun held an opening ceremony on February 2 for the Buyeo-gun Canoe Training Center, a modern facility designed to strengthen canoe training in South Korea. The center features a one-stop system that allows athletes to train, rest, and stay on-site, providing a more efficient training environment.

The Canoe Training Center is located in Hoam-ri, Gyuam-myeon, and was developed as a large-scale project with a total investment of 12.1 billion won over approximately five years beginning in 2020. The facility covers a site area of 3,344 square meters, with a total floor area of 1,600 square meters, and consists of one underground level and one above-ground level.

The center includes an advanced indoor rowing tank that enables year-round training regardless of weather conditions. Additional facilities include a strength training room, 12 dormitory rooms for athletes, and a lounge area, creating an environment where athletes can focus on their training.

Buyeo-gun expects that the new training center will help canoe athletes train in a more professional setting. The center is also expected to serve as a training base for national team members and regional teams from across the country, contributing to the overall development of canoe sports.

Buyeo-gun plans to regularly host national canoe competitions and strengthen sports marketing by utilizing its waterfront resources. Through these efforts, the county aims to promote sports-based tourism and support local economic activity while establishing itself as a recognized canoe training destination.
