About 80 endangered white storks confirmed wintering, the largest number ever recorded in Gochang.

Gochang-gun has confirmed that a group of white storks, designated as Class I endangered wildlife by the Ministry of Environment and also recognized as a Natural Monument, are spending the winter in the Haericheon Stream area in the largest number ever recorded in Gochang. Currently, about 80 white storks are staying in and around Haericheon Stream for the winter season.

Gochang-gun explained that the well-preserved habitat allowing the storks to rest and feed safely is believed to be the main reason for this large-scale wintering. It added that efforts to protect and conserve the storks’ habitat will continue in the future.
