An expanded schedule strengthens its role as a youth-led direct-to-consumer marketplace.
Launched in 2024, the Jecheon Young Farmers Market is quickly establishing itself as a leading farmer-led direct-to-consumer market in the region. The market is organized and run by young and beginning farmers who take part in planning and selling their own products, while also offering food, hands-on activities, and busking performances to create a lively community space. Now in its second year in 2025, the market has seen a sharp rise in visitor participation and strong positive feedback from local residents.
Regularly held markets provide early-stage farmers with valuable opportunities to strengthen their farming skills, better understand consumer demand, and secure stable sales channels. Visitors also benefit from purchasing fresh local produce and enjoying a variety of cultural and experiential programs. As a result, the market is increasingly recognized as a community platform where producers and consumers mutually benefit.
Reflecting growing demand, Jecheon City plans to increase the number of market events from four last year to seven this year. The Young Farmers Market will be held on the fourth Saturday of each month from April through October. Detailed schedules and program updates will be available on the Jecheon Agricultural Technology Center website and its official social media channels.
In addition, the city is recruiting new young farmers interested in participating in the market. Applicants may contact the Human Resource Development Team of the Technical Support Division at the Jecheon Agricultural Technology Center for further information.
