Guri Cosmos Festival

The 2025 Guri Cosmos Festival, held at Guri Hangang Park from September 26th to 28th. As I visited early on the opening day, the atmosphere was relatively quiet and calm.

At the entrance, food stalls and vendor booths were set up, ready to welcome visitors.

As I entered the performance area, a performance of 'Guri Beolmal Dari Bapgi,' a traditional folk game of Guri City, was in full swing.

'Guri Beolmal Dari Bapgi' is a traditional folk play passed down in the Guri region. It originated from a ritual performed on Daeboreum (the first full moon of the lunar year), where people would step on bridges to wish for the village's peace and a bountiful harvest. Today, it is showcased as one of the representative cultural programs of Guri City.

Moving further into the venue, a small field of cosmos swaying in the gentle breeze caught my eye. Although modest in size, it offered a delightful preview of the festival vibe before reaching the main flower complex.

On one side of the field, there was a small photo zone decorated with colorful chrysanthemums. With its charming atmosphere, it was the perfect spot to pause for a photo.

Food trucks were stationed next to the scenic area, adding convenience and liveliness to the festival grounds.

I followed the signs pointing to the 'Way to the Large Cosmos Complex.'

The ‘Cosmos Tour Train,’ which transports visitors to the main flower complex, was in operation. I was pleasantly surprised to find that, unlike at many other tourist sites, this service was free of charge.

A temporary village bus stop was set up at the entrance road. Thanks to extended bus routes improving accessibility during the festival, reaching the cosmos complex was very convenient.

Shuttle buses running between the main venue and the large cosmos complex were also busy transporting visitors.

Finally, I arrived at the large cosmos complex. Beyond the flower fields, the magnificent Godeok Topyeong Bridge came into view.

Although not yet at peak bloom, the sheer number of planted flowers made the vast field look full with just those that had opened.

Within the complex, the yellow cosmos (sulphur cosmos) had bloomed earlier than other varieties, showing off their brilliance.

A landscape filled with vibrant yellow cosmos.

The postcard photo zone, which has kept its spot for several years, continuing to gift memories to visitors.

The pink waves filling my view seemed to be trying to hold onto the fleeting autumn season.

By this weekend, this vast field will likely be brimming with life, filled with fully bloomed cosmos and the laughter of visitors.
